Buhler family donates $200,000 to drought stricken farmers
Winnipeg, MB
August 14, 2002

"This is just a drop in the ocean of what is needed," said John Buhler, the C.E.O. & Chairman of Buhler Industries Inc. "But after more than 35 years of manufacturing farm equipment, this is the least I can do, along with my wife Bonnie, to support the people who are responsible for our good fortune. I am hoping this donation will spur others to do what needs to be done for our farmers."

The Buhler contribution of 200 thousand dollars will be used to offset transportation costs of hay provided by farmers and will be split among three organizations, Municipal District of Provost, Alberta; Saskatchewan Cattle Feeders Association and the Agriculture Producers Association of New Brunswick. The donation will be processed with the help of The Winnipeg Foundation and the Mennonite Central Committee Manitoba. Other donations can be made directly to that fund or any of the farm organizations.

John Buhler is a major shareholder of Buhler Industries Inc., which manufactures Versatile tractors, as well as Farm King, Allied and Inland brand farm equipment.

This donation, however, is not from the company. It is a personal contribution from John and Bonnie Buhler. Said Buhler,” It breaks my heart to see animals in western Canada suffering. Bonnie and I wanted to do what we could. I have faith that many other Canadians, especially those doing business with western Canadian farmers, will also want to make their contribution. Community values built western Canada. Our neighbours need help. We all must act now."
